Prayer Guide Easter Sunday 2020

Easter Day 2020

Daniel 12:2

[2] And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Isaiah 26:19

[19] Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise.

You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy!

For your dew is a dew of light, and the earth will give birth to the dead.

Without an understanding of resurrection in the Old Testament, God’s people of old would have died thinking God had failed to fulfil his promises.

God promised the land of Canaan to the patriarchs and their offspring, yet Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob all died not having received the things promised.

How, then, will God keep his word to the patriarchs? By raising them from the dead.

Death does not make God a promise-breaker; and resurrection will prove He is a promise-keeper.

We can enjoy the stability of resurrection hope, because the promises of the world to come will never waver or fail.

God has also made promises to us in Christ that are yet to be fulfilled. Though inwardly we are being renewed, outwardly we are wasting away.

At the resurrection, however, the perishable will finally put on the imperishable.

2 Corinthians 4:16

[16] So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.

So may we not lose heart. Jesus evacuated His grave, and so shall we.

Let us today, joyfully give thanks for the Resurrection. It changes everything!

Let us pray for the church today. Unable to gather but as the scattered church, rejoicing in Christ our Saviour.

Let us pray for all those affected intimately by Covid-19. For those struggling in ICU, for those who have lost loved ones, for those affected financially.

Let us pray for the Prime Minister, that he would be restored to full health.

And above all, let us give thanks.

He is risen. He is risen indeed!
